Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour1 cup whole wheat flour1/2 cup sugar1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided1 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg2 large eggs, room temperature1-1/4 cups unsweetened applesauce1/4 cup canola oil3 tablespoons 2% milk1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine the flours, sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, baking soda, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, applesauce, oil and milk. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.

Transfer to a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Combine brown sugar and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 50-60 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
