Ingredients

2 oz. gin

1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 oz. crème de violette liqueur

1/4 oz. maraschino liqueur

ice

lemon peel, for garnish

brandied cherry, for garnish

Preparation

Step 1Add gin, lemon juice, and liqueurs to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake until cold. Strain into a coupe or other cocktail glass, then garnish with a lemon twist and a brandied cherry.

Crème de violette wasn’t available again until the mid-aughts, when Rothman & Winter reproduced the liqueur. Though it can still be tricky to find, fans of this floral cocktail know it’s worth the search. We bumped up the amount of crème de violette in our version, because we think its ultra-floral notes deserve center stage. One of the best parts of this cocktail is garnishing with a brandied cherry. Think it as a more complex, fruitier version of the cherries you’d put on top of a sundae. Though if you can’t find them, you can absolutely use maraschino cherries. Throw it on a cocktail pick with a bit of lemon peel, and you’ll have one of the most gorgeous cocktails out there. Made this? Let us know how it went in the comment section below!
