Ingredients
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground turmeric
Large pinch ground allspice
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 c. whole milk
1 1/2 c. white chocolate chips
Pinch of kosher salt
Whipped cream, for serving
Cinnamon sticks, for serving
Preparation
Step 1Make the acorn spice mixture. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Step 2Make the hot cocoa, in a shallow plate, melt the dark chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds. Dip 4 mugs in the melted chocolate. Sprinkle chocolate with acorn spice mixture. Cool mugs in refrigerator to set chocolate, at least 10 minutes. Remove mugs from refrigerator. Step 3In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring milk to simmer. Stir in the white chocolate chips, 1 teaspoon acorn spice mixture, and salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until chocolate is completely melted. Turn off heat. Step 4Pour hot chocolate into chocolate rimmed mugs, then top with whipped cream, a cinnamon stick, and more acorn spice mixture.
