Ingredients
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
3/4 c. panko breadcrumbs
3 tbsp. everything bagel seasoning
2 tbsp. black and/or white sesame seeds
2 large, just ripe avocados, halved, pitted, peeled, and sliced ½" thick
Olive oil cooking spray
2 oz. cream cheese
1 tbsp. (or more) water
lime wedges, for serving
Preparation
Step 1Pour flour into a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, beat eggs to blend. In a third shallow bowl, mix panko, everything bagel seasoning, and sesame seeds. Dip avocado strips into flour, shaking off any excess. Dip into eggs, then into panko mixture, gently pressing to adhere. Transfer to a plate.Step 2Lightly coat an air-fryer basket with cooking spray. Working in batches, arrange avocado in a single layer in basket, spacing about 1/4" apart; spray with cooking spray. Cook at 350°, flipping halfway through and spraying with cooking spray, until golden and crisp, 6 to 8 minutes. Clean out any breading in basket between batches.Step 3In a small heatproof bowl, microwave cream cheese on high until melted and smooth, about 30 seconds. Stir in water, adding more if necessary to create a drizzleable consistency.Step 4Drizzle avocado fries with melted cream cheese. Serve with lime wedges alongside.
For the best avocado fries, you’re looking for an avocado that’s just ripe. Check it by gently pressing your thumb into the flesh near the stem end. If it gives just slightly, then it’s good to go. Anything softer than that is better for guacamole or other avocado dips. Make your own homemade everything bagel seasoning if you can’t find it at a store. The best part is that it’s easy to adapt to your liking. Want it on the saltier side? Up the ratio of kosher salt to the other ingredients. Like a bit of heat? Stir in some crushed chili pepper flakes. If you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry. You can make avocado fries in a regular oven, too.
