Ingredients

6 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

1/2 c. roughly chopped pecans

1/2 c. packed brown sugar

1/4 c. granulated sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Pinch kosher salt

1 box yellow cake mix

3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, cut into small cubes

Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Preparation

Step 1Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, toss apples, pecans, sugars, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of salt together. Step 2Pour apples into a 9”-x-13” baking dish. Top with cake mix, then place butter all over top. Step 3Bake until top is golden and apples are tender, 50 to 60 minutes. Step 4Serve warm with ice cream.

This cake is best the day it’s made but you can store any leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for another day.
