Ingredients
8 Sister Schubert’s Dinner Yeast Rolls
6 tsp. butter sliced into pats
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. maple syrup
1 1/2 c. blueberries
Zest of 1/2 an orange
Powdered sugar, for serving
1/2 c. condensed milk
3/4 c. whole milk
3 large eggs
Preparation
Step 1Preheat oven to 350º.Step 2Defrost the rolls at room temperature, 20 minutes. Spray a 9"-x-13" casserole dish with cooking spray. Cut out the center of each roll and place the rolls side by side in a casserole dish. Save the cut pieces of bread, tear them into small pieces and set aside in a small bowl.
Step 1Heat a heavy bottomed saucepan on medium heat and add the butter. Watch carefully as it bubbles and begins to darken around the 5 minute mark. When it smells nutty, remove from heat, stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup, blueberries, and orange zest, and set aside.
Step 1Whisk together the condensed milk, whole milk, and eggs. Stir in the reserved bread pieces and pour the entire mixture all over the prepared casserole dish. Step 2Spoon the berry mixture into the center of each roll and evenly around the dish. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the custard is set and the rolls are golden brown. Serve with powdered sugar.
