Ingredients
1 tbsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Preparation
Step 1In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients until combined. Step 2Season burger patties liberally with seasoning, gently pressing seasoning into the meat. Or store in an airtight container.
Can I make substitutions for the spices? The combination of paprika, garlic powder, and brown sugar gives this particular blend a barbecue vibe. But, in all honesty, anything and everything on the ingredient list can change. You can leave out ingredients you don’t already have (or that you don’t like), add any dried herbs you prefer, skip the brown sugar if you don’t want any sweetness, and/or add replace the paprika with other bold strong spices or mixes. More ideas to mix in:

- Chili powder
- Onion powder
- Italian seasoning
- Dried thyme, rosemary, or sage Can I use this to season other meats? There are no rules limiting you to use this mix exclusively for beef burgers.
